Review of Jersey City, New Jersey

Congestion
Star Rating - 3/23/2008
Jersey City is large enough to have very different areas when it comes to quality of life. There are the affluent areas and the poor areas. The cost of housing in the affluent downtown Jersey City is only slightly less expensive than Manhattan prices.

Jersey City recently repaved many of the major roads which improved the quality of driving significantly. Many roads are still in need of repair however. The seasonal temperature extremes and high traffic cause the roads to deteriorate faster than the city can repair them.

Real estate property taxes are very high and appear to be much higher than national averages.

The most influential factor may be the congestion. It affects everyday life in small and cumulative ways. People get used to the congestion as a person may get used to a daily bop in the head. It's bearable and irrational at the same time.
