Review of Colorado City, Texas

Not a good place for short term or long term.
Star Rating - 12/6/2019
In the short time I was there, I found the people to just be hicks and there is really nothing to do except go to the river. The hotels I stayed at were filthy, good restaurants were sparse and the city had this weird smell.

Well buddy, that weird smell is most likely oil. My Mother was born and raised in Colorado City, my sister and I spent many summers and vacations there in her childhood home with my grandparents. It was a small town then, but I have wonderful memories of it all, walking downtown to the theater and the drug store, and I think there was a Ben Franklin store. Our first stop was always the lake, where my grandfather, a big fisherman, caught lovely large mouthed bass. It might not be the garden spot of West Texas, but the stars at night are magnificent. I am 65 now, my beloved Mama and her parents are gone, I haven't been to Colorado City in many years. But, it still holds a special place in my heart and always will. You might want to move a little farther north and work on your attitude. I have lived in Minnesota now for nearly 34 years, way north, but I don't remember many hicks in C-City. Probably there was racism and less than stellar citizens, like most places in Texas, but there was also a great sense of pride and a lot of love felt and returned by two little girls who got to spend good chunks of their growing up years there.
