Review of Richland, Washington

Tri Cities Washington
Star Rating - 1/12/2014
This is the high desert and the Columbia River and bicycle trails, and hiking trails on "Badger Mountain" (a treeless landform) are the attractions. Housing is reasonable compared to other places. Life style is quiet. Summers are sunny and warm. Wind is frequent, but this area avoids the weather extremes of surrounding areas. Retiring here would be good for people who like a quiet life style. Medical care is available. Wine is a big deal in this area, as are the wineries.
There is usually no trouble getting around in winter. The 1970's style housing is Richland neighborhoods has the charm of days gone by. Parks are everywhere, including a very nice dog park.

I've always wondered why so many people think Richland is the "high desert". Richland has a semi-arid desert climate but it's practically at sea-level, so no, it's not the "high desert". Also, this area of Washington typically has some of the hottest temperatures in the summer and coldest temperatures in the winter, so, I would disagree that Richland avoids "the weather extremes of surrounding areas".
