Review of Plano, Texas

We Are Considering Moving to Plano, TX
Star Rating - 12/3/2015
We would like your honest opinion.

1. Are people really braggy "Christians" in Plano,TX?
2. Are taxes really as high or close to what you pay for your mortgage?
3. If you're not Caucasian are you treated with disregard?

These are the only questions we have for now. Just asking due to some of the reviews we've read about Plano,TX.

1) You chose your company. I've lived in Plano for 1.5 years and have never encountered any weird "braggy Christians", but then again, I generally surround myself with well educated, open minded individuals. 2) Property taxes are marginally higher. It's no big deal, and I strongly believe that the city does a great job in using our tax money to provide us with a great Police force, a clean city, and strong education and recreation systems. In fact, Forbes magazine recently ranked Plano as 'The Safest City in America' with a population above 200k. 3) No. Plano is a very diverse city, and people are generally quite friendly and value individuals based on how they carry/present themselves and their words/actions/behavior, rather than their race. Plano is a really great, family friendly city to live in!

1. Not quite sure what you mean by braggy Christians but there are a lot of people who are openly religious. I personally live near a buddist temple as well as a mosque and of course Christian and Catholic churches as well. I am not really religious myself and never found it be a problem with making friends or having neighborhood support. 2. Property taxes are high in Texas. You should use 2.5 as basic standard mil rate for calculating property taxes. That means you would pay 2500$ a year for 100000 assessed value of house. It could be slightly higher or slightly lower but thats fairly average for most areas at least in DFW. That would be around 625$ a month for the median value house in Plano. I would expect your mortgage will be a lot higher than that. However it does impact your housing cost significantly 3. I am not really qualified to answer this as I am caucasian. I try to treat everybody like I would like to be treated.
