Review of Falmouth CDP, Massachusetts

Vacation Okay - Year Round , Not Realistic
Star Rating - 2/14/2013
I was born and raised in Falmouth for the past 30 years and am in the process of trying to relocate for numerous reasons. Falmouth does not have opportunities for families, it is ridiculous expensive (average house that is not a tare down is $300,000 ). In order for a family to squeak by on the basics both parents have to work full time and then some, mean while the kids are either in day care or in after school programs, so you don't get quality time. The weather is nice MAYBE 3-4 times a year. Winters are horrific, the ocean is both a blessing and a curse. The last storm (Nemo) the snow was like cement, people were without powers for days , and in february that means no heat.

Almost every person I went to school with has moved away because the job market is almost non existant. Gas prices are consistently 20 cents higher then on the other side of the bridge. AVERAGE travel time to a store or anywhere is 15-20 minutes. In the summer time you can easily double that - and thats IN TOWN. School's are good, but like I said, unless you come from money , having any semblence of a happy family that actually gets to spend time together, is slim to none.
