Now the only reason some people disagree is because MONEY. If you live in “manayunk” (which I lived for 2 years) you can’t compare … you can’t compare your out skirt suburbs your 3k apartments. THE REAL PHILLY south, central, west, north. Ive lived in Philly for 20 years and in tons of places chasing this DREAM of a safe living. But you will not find it here unless you reside to a beautiful house at the end of a ****ty day. The people suck the weather sucks. Drugs everywhere, fiends everywhere, shootings, serial rapist, murders left and right you can get shot from a 14 year old kid or a 50 year old man! This place is complete garbage and telling people to move is a no go. Just because the cost of living with cities fun is cheaper than other states so be a scheme and set people up to die. Terrible drivers, rude ignorant people, they curse at you first before saying hello. And I’m speaking from a view from growing up in the poorest spots to living in manayunk, queen village, society hill, no matter where you go it can get better but still so so ****ty. Lets not get started about the disgusting muggy weather and humid nights … with a light shower of gunshots and women screaming for help. Let’s not play stupid here !

I have lived 70-80 percent of my life in Philadelphia. I now live in what is a mid-sized city in Colorado. A portion of my life was spent in southern US, New England, and Europe. The difference between all those places is very small. The reason? People don’t change that much. OK, the smaller the town, the more polite the people, generally, but people are usually nice to strangers and visitors universally.

Please go back to your farm then. Philly is a great town! I lived there or in the area for over 15 years. Wonderfully stimulating place! Wonderfully walkable! Great mass transit! All the cultural you could want to gorge on and then there is still more! Yeah, you gotta pay your dues. Have a spare wallet with a $20 in it because you will get pick pocketed eventually. Yeah, your car will get banged around on the streets, and broken into. Plan for those eventualities then it won’t crush you. Love Philly, can’t wait to get back!

Lmao, wait till you see Chicago. If you think Philly is bad and everyone is commenting otherwise, then it might just be you. In a metro like Chicago, Detroit, Philly, or Baltimore, just keep your mouth shut! If you keep to yourself so will everyone else. My pops grew up in South and West Chicago, he hated it because of Taxes and CoL, but never was mugged or anything. His close friend died but that was because of gang relations. I lived in West Chicago for a year and a half, grew up in Aurora. Despite Chicago being known as murder capital, we were never threatened and the area we lived in was rough. Why and how did we survive? Because we kept to ourselves! Same goes with Philadelphia and everyone seems to agree (based on the comments)!

I disagree strongly, as I was just in Philly for 5 days and thoroughly enjoyed my time. We walked the streets, had people from all races talk with us, went into bars, and EVERYONE was nice. Not saying there aren’t some places you know to stay away from. I’m from Hampton Roads Va. and we have a lot of crimes in some areas as well. But never down an entire city by a few areas. I LOVED PHILLY!
