Great city up and coming
Star Rating - 3/23/2018
I’ve lived here since 2014 my house is up 58%, the city is improving constantly. We have a very efficient city hall, the people are helpful. Our elected officials care and it shows. The police are visible and respond quickly. Definitely a working class environment, some neighborhoods are better than others but everyone is approachable. Hopefully the affordability will not cause gentrification of our more affordable housing. We have great waste and recycling disposal. The city has two entrances to route 2 very convenient. Many grocery stores, I was very impressed with price choppers higher end options as well as Hannaford convenient location. It’s nice to live in a small American city ????

Gardner has no interest in expanding beyond low income housing. Try dealing with the arrogant and obnoxious building inspector to see for yourself. The city is rife with falling down buildings and the infrastructure is worse. Half of the residents are on disability mostly due to drug and alcohol issues and the other half work just to get by with very little ambition. The former mayor deserted the place in the middle of the night and the new mayor is afraid of his own shadow with no people skills whatsoever. Try using a word with more than two syllables and you will lose most of the populace.
