Have lived in Mountain View since 1992. Agree that the prices are out of control in the Bay Area. It is becoming more congested. My overall quality of life is still good - great climate, lots of nature available (beaches, hiking, parks) within a one hour drive from home. I have probably 6-10 great hiking spots that I can get to within 15 minutes to a half hour from home. My kids went to the public schools, graduated within the decade. One is in a Ph.D. program at an Ivy League; other graduated Summa Cum Laude from college and is planning on dental school. We did no enrichment - no tutors, no Kumon Math, no academic summer camps. No complaints on the public schools.
