Barrier Island living is for the ones who would like to retire in a temperate climate. Surf City is a wonderful small town on Topsail island. we have lived here 15 years to raisise our children and the topsail schools here are wonderful . Lots of great churches around and pollution free on the island. Great water, fishing and great weather. there of course if you buy down here will need several insurances that will add to your mortgage and you will need maintainence of the home with termite contracts and pest control. People that start small businesses down here succeed if they have money in case there is a loss. It is seasonal working down here so steady jobs are not here. It is a family oriented island and peaceful.
