Review of Hopkinsville, Kentucky

Great Town
Star Rating - 4/9/2019
Lived on the west side of town not far from the 68 bypass for about four years. Excellent neighborhood with great neighbors. Really, they were the best neighbors we have had. They took pride in their houses too. Only things you will see on heat crime map are noise complaints or routine traffic stops.
The northeast section of town is what one would call a "transition" neighborhood, but the problems more or less stayed confined to that area.
I own guns, but I never felt the need to even keep one by my bedside.
Downtown seemed like it was starting to experience a little bit of a revitalization. New brewery, restaurants, art studios, book store, coffee shop, etc. Owners all seemed to know the history of their buildings, which was cool. Fun to listen to coffee shop owner talk about how her building used to be a brothel.
MB Roland distillery had Pickin' On the Porch and Casey Jones would have entertainment as well.
Considering Clarksville, TN is probably three times the size of Hoptown, Hoptown had a lot more to offer than Clarksville.
Smaller town, so traffic wasn't bad. Ft Campbell Blvd would get a bit busy, but very easy getting around town otherwise.
Great location. Want to camp or fish? Land Between the Lakes was to the west. Bourbon Trail started to the north. Bowling Green was to the east. Nashville about an hour or so to the south.
Only complaint was Jennie Stuart Med Center. We had a sketchy experience there. Maybe it was just the shift that was on duty. I don't know... but, we have heard other complaints from friends and acquaintances. That's why it gets 4 out of 5 stars.
Having grown up in the Northeast, a short train ride from NYC, I would choose the small town, friendly atmosphere of Hoptown any day of the week. If the opportunity arises, we would move back.
