Review of Costa Mesa, California

Love it and Leaving it
Star Rating - 8/9/2006
Costa Mesa is a great little city right between Huntington Beach and Newport Beach - although, unlike either of those, it's freeway close. In 5-10 minutes you can be at the beach, South Coast Plaza, Fashion Island, OC swap meet(which means the Fair and Pacific Ampitheater); in 20 minutes you can be at Angel Staduim, the Pond, Disneyland, Mainplace Mall, The Block of Orange, Irvine Spectrum, Verizon Ampitheater. And with freeway access to anywhere it's great~ The 55 is in the heart of Costa Mesa and feeds into the 73, 405, 5 and the 91 so all of them are from 5-20 minutes away.
But sadly to say -all of those time frames were without traffic, which is rare. And with all the development on every spare corner, traffic is one of the biggest and most growing dowsides to living here, not to mention crowds and smog. It's really nice being local to everything - so nice that everybody and their neighbor seems to want to join us. There wont be a lick of land left soon. With EVERYTHING so crowded/congested already I can't imagine how much worse it will get. From the freeways and malls to movie theaters and restaurants, it's crowded everywhere, traffic always, lines to get in anywhere or do anything. Just too many people in general and don't even get me started on the mall at Christmas -insanity! I LOVE THIS PLACE BUT I'VE GOT TO GO~
