Well, it’s 2019 and we still have less than 70,000 population. We strive to maintain a small beach town vibe, but population pressures from San Diego County immediately south and the rest of Orange County to our north are being felt. We have several upscale restaurants in our downtown area, retail outlets and big box chains have made inroads in outlying parts of our city. However, despite the influx of “civilization”, I would still rather live here than anywhere else.
