Star Rating - 10/14/2008
As the name implies, Three Rivers is a community with "three rivers." The largest of them, the St. Joseph River, converges with the Portage and Rocky rivers in the center of the community, adjacent to our central business district which has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1982.

Well-developed parks -- Scidmore Park, Memory Isle Park and Conservation Park -- are located along the river banks. Scidmore Park includes a Petting Zoo, playground, farmers market pavilions, and picnic shelters and tables while Conservation Park is home to Liquid Therapy Canoe & Kayak Rental.

Nearby are Meyer Broadway Park and Hidden Marsh Sanctuary, a nature preserve.

St. Joseph County, within which Three Rivers is located, has many rivers and streams, thus making appropriate the name "River Country," and there are many lakes in the area as well.

The community features a state-of-the-art high school that opened in 1999. The high school includes a nearly 1,000-seat Performing Arts Center, a gymnasium that seats 2,500, plus an auxiliary gym. The school district also has a middle school and four elementary schools, all of which have been upgraded over the last several years and are top-notch facilities.

Three Rivers Health provides a wide array of health care facilities and programs on its attractive campus on the city's southwest side.

The Carnegie Center for the Arts and its W.R. Monroe Museum enrich the community with a variety of exhibits, concerts, and classes.

And the recently-restored Riviera Theatre in the downtown area also adds greatly to the life of the community.

Much more could be said, but, hopefully, this will give the reader a glimpse into the great "quality of life" to be found in Three Rivers, Michigan.
