Welcome to Spooner!!

I moved here from NW Illinois in October 2013. Alot of the people here that I've are from the Rockord, Illinois area or South of where I lived. Spooner is what you make it. Local shops love support and have been more than friendly. The bookstore has a discount card. The football players sell a discount card every year. We have our own indoor hockey rink and Wisconsin Lumberjacks team who play with alot of Canadian teams. Very talented group to watch and support. The Shell Lake beach is 15 min. Shell Lake is the biggest fresh water lake in Wisconsin. You can rent boats, kayaks, etc I personally take my kayak on the Yellow River and the Namakagon River. We have an ATV / snowmobtrail where people from Nebraska and Iowa have told me is the reason they come up. There are a series of waterfalls to hike in Northern Wisconsin as well as alot of closeby parks in Spooner. College Park has several miles of bike trails, hiking yrails..paved and non paved, I use the winter trails for kick sledding , and also used for snowshoeing and skiing. We have over 900 lakes alone in this county of Washburn. Spooner consists of Washburn and Burnett Counties. The local visitor center has a yreasure hunt for families and can steer you to almost anything you are looking to explore. The rodeo in July is almost 70 years old and puts on an amazing show. DNR also gives free depth maps for lakes. Take a tour of our fish hatchery. There is so much to do here. Or sometines I sit on my deck and listen to the loons. It is what you want to make it. Clean fresh air. Beautiful stary nights by a campfire making smores! Come and Enjoy!
