Summer there is boating, fishing, hunting and flying out of a former Air Force base. Winter time there is an indoor public pool and weight room, Snow machines, cross country skiing, snow shoeing, trapping, and lots of community activities. Galena is a check point for the Iron Dog snow machine race and for the Iditarod dog slead race.
