Quiet and peaceful

The Grand Valley is a beautiful area! Palisade is a nice quiet community that sits about 5 miles east of Grand Junction off I70 and is part of this valley. It is a small quaint town and is predominately an agricultural area.
As the previous reviewer states it is true about the outdoor activities, fresh produce, etc. We come here frequently to visit. However this town is covered in smoke off and on from spring season agricultural burning. This takes place in the entire Grand Valley starting March 1st and ending the end of April. This is just the open spring burning season. Fall burning season starts September 1 and ends September 30th. My family and I have personally experienced this and it is not something we want to experience again! The smoke was so bad that it was difficult to see across some streets due to the haze. Since the burning is agricultural and substances being burned are mostly weeds, stumps, and grasses, particulates from these substances go into the atmosphere and pollute the valley. This is tough for those who value clean breathing air who I believe is most of us! Locals confirm this has been going on for decades and do not believe this will ever change.
It’s great during the summer months though! We love visiting during this time.
The Lavender Festival and Peach Festivals are a real treat! And don’t miss the wineries!
