Review of Alamo, California

A little bit of country near the city
Star Rating - 9/12/2015
A loveey, quiet suburb with some semi-rural, horsey areas left.Being upscale, there are some Type A's and snobs but generally people say, "Hi" when walking in the neighborhood. Sandwiched between the city of Walnut Creek and the Town of Danville, we fight to retain our status as an unincorporated area of Contra Costa County and just want to be left alone. Surrounding areas are growing and developing (suburban sprawl) so we stay vigilant. It's peaceful but expensive. We're about 45 miles east of San Francisco but it now costs over $10 to go there round trip on BART, if you can find a parking space at the station (and that's an additional $3 per diem). Most move here to raise a family because the schools are quite good. And, then many stay on because it is a lovely, comfortable place to live.
