What's it like?

We are planning to retire in NC - the Greenville area, including Grimesland, Winterville, Grifton; Clayton, Stokes, Mcclesfield, nearby communities. Can anyone give me an idea what it is like? Climate, housing, crime, health, quality of life, community? Thank you. We would like 1-2 acres with a home between $150,000 and $180,000.
