Education and Newport News

I have been a Newport News resident since 1997. The school system in our area makes great strides to hire excellent teachers K-12. Instead of building more gas stations, I wish they would invest in building a few more schools. The traffic is getting a bit out of control due to the population growth; So, I suppose the gas pumps are a necessity. Many of the schools are getting old, and Newport News really needs to find a way to improve their funding. The Virginia Lottery is suppose to help with some of our school funding, but it's rarely discussed. I hope things improve for the teachers and the students. They deserve it!
