Review of La Vernia, Texas

Air and water quality
Star Rating - 8/9/2008
Your statistics are really wrong. I can only assume that you are using San Antonio stats. SA is 30 miles away. The air and water in La Vernia are pristine. That's one of the main reasons I had for choosing La Vernia. The EPA does not test the air quality here. There are no air quality monitors at all and no heavy industry either - unless you count raising longhorn steer. La Vernia is in Wilson County. EPA Scorecard ranks Wilson County as one of the cleanest counties in the country. The only large polluters in Wilson county are the power plant at Lake Calveras and the new petroleum refinery in Nixon. Both are over 20 miles away from La Vernia. Water can vary by supplier. I have water from the C-Willow Water Company and it tastes great. A recent analysis was extremely favorable.

There is also very little pollution from mobile sources, since traffic is extremely light. On a 15 mile drive to Seguin, I may pass a dozen cars. This is a quiet, low crime area with good schools, but only 1/2 hour away from the fifth largest city in the country.
