I've lived in California, Texas, West Germany, and Alabama during my 60+years. Alabama alone counts for 36 years. For me and my family, Alabama has been the best. Good weather, Gulf Coast beaches (Destin; Panama City) are 90 minutes away, Few leftist policies, low taxes, good schools, esp. in Enterprise, good roads, big cities are reasonable close, housing prices are great with low property taxes, I have yet to find a better overall place, except for Southern California 50 years ago, which of course is long gone.
