excellent schools and socially open

My three kids went through the West Lafayette schools and they were excellent. The community strongly supports education. It's terrific that you have a community that is strongly pro-education, but that doesn't tend to be very materially oriented. My kids weren't under big pressure to have fancy things. Also, West Lafayette is quite socially tolerant. I'm gay, and my youngest son was 13 eight years ago when I came out. I worried it would be hard for him but his classmates could not have been more supportive.
