Review of Hutto, Texas

Great little town!
Star Rating - 8/29/2016
My wife, son, and I lived in South Austin for about three years before we decided to buy a place of our own. We looked in Austin first but you don't get much house for what our budget was. We then looked in Pflugerville and Round Rock. We actually bid on five houses and got outbid on all of them. One we even bid 11k over asking. I had pretty much given up on looking until my mom, from New Mexico, found a house for me to look at in Hutto. I took my son to the house and instantly fell in love. Hutto is such a nice little town with an easy commute to Austin, Round Rock, Pflugerville and Georgetown. We bid 7k over asking and got the house. We paid 207,000 for a three year old house that is 3/2/2 and about 1900 sqft. Schools are really close, neighbors houses are a good distance away and the neighborhood is nice and quiet overall. This house in Austin would probably be around 350k. We went to a high school football game on opening night and the community has a lot of sincere support for the school and their students. Hutto's first grocery store should be opening before the year ends. Not a lot of restaurants to choose from in Hutto but there are plenty within a 20 minute drive. Not a ton of places to work in Hutto but with Austin and surrounding areas there are a ton of places. I know Hutto is growing fast. This website says 15,000 but it's over 21,000 now. (2016) We love Hutto and all it has to offer. Hutto Hippos for life!
