Review of Coleraine, Minnesota

My plan is to move here in next couple years!

This small little town is pretty cool. It's a community that was a planned city during it's mining era and when the Ore Mines were operating at peak significant investment was put into this community that normally wouldn't be available for a small tax base. It's built around Trout Lake with a Central Park area that extends from the lake to it's music gazebo on it's other end. It's large for a city park and history suggests it had NYC Central Park in mind when they build it. The Elementary, Middle, and High School are older but historic. It has a beautiful public library that was built by Andrew Carnegie given US Steel was heavily vested into the region. It has a very nice public 18 hole golf course that is with views of the lake and overachieves greatly. It's history is built around the many europeans that migrated here making it's ethnic diversity unique. Food from many cultures, Olympic Training Facility with Three large ski jumps that are in use year round. Despite its low population it has plenty of ice time for it's love for Hockey with its own enclosed arena with artificial ice. Nearby is Grand Rapids which is primarily a timber and paper making town with all the big box retailers just 4 miles away. With the mines no longer operating at peak production it's had its hard times and could use a spit shine. If I were you I'd move here in a heartbeat. The lake, recreation, fresh water Canisteo Lake and Trout lake are within walking distance as is it's schools. Your kids can walk to school at elementary, middle and High-school.
