Review of Charlottesville, Virginia

Nothing positive
Star Rating - 3/27/2021
Loved here for 7 years, lots of parks and close proximity to Shenandoah, but that’s where the positives end. High cost of living with extreme income inequality, Confederate sympathetic presence, general lack of compassion and consideration of others, horrific traffic accidents on the daily. High humidity, UV rating and pollen count are regular issues. It doesn’t rain here, it floods, then its Sahara desert sunny for weeks! Don’t forget your sunscreen and insect repellent if you are visiting! I have nothing positive to say about this place and I hope every single day that I do not spend the remainder of my life here, which will undoubtedly be cut short by the high crime for such a small town or one of the many gruesome vehicle accidents, or cancer from the pollution of the water system curtesy of a corporation and a military industrial complex benefactor. Don’t move here, you will regret it.

As a full-time Charlottesville realtor since 2003, I have seen this area change. But not how you state it. It's still a heck of a lot better than most of the USA!

Not sure where the big military industrial complex benefactor is located. If you're talking about NGIC, it has a fairly small footprint. It does bring revenue into the area from rent and business patronage, but that's about it. Virginia is a very historical place; during the Civil War, Virginia was part of the Confederacy. Many of Virginia's sons served in Virginia units, fighting for the Confederacy and their state. Most soldiers fought with dignity and honor. Virginians should continue to honor and respect their history while learning valuable lessons to make all of our lives better now and in the future. Sadly, with a Taliban-like city coucil, most local history is being erased and destroyed in a fashion reminiscent of the Communist Chinese cultural revolution. Eliminate a people's history, change the narrative, reinvent the past, take over the culture and remake it in your own image. Well done, Charlottesville!! Charlottesville is overpriced and overrated in most catagories. It is strictly divided between the haves and the have nots. Not many job opportunities that will allow you to live within the area that you work. Local police are run ragged and have been told to 'stand down' from active policing by ruling political class. I will be glad to see Charlottesville in my rear view mirror soon. My only regret is that I can't dig up my local family history of 250+ years and take them with me.....
