Review of Sidn,

Not my #1 choice...
Star Rating - 11/28/2008
Most people I know that live in Sidney live here for one of 2 reasons:
1) There job transferred them here (it is a somewhat industrial town), or,
2) They've just lived here their whole life and are "stuck".

Sidney is a pretty boring place, overall. I used to work the front desk at a hotel here and it was pretty embarrassing when guests would ask me what there was to do here...I always had to respond "Go to B-dubs?" (<-- a sports bar here). Also, finding a job here can be quite the challenge. Unless you "know somebody who knows somebody", or you've transferred from another branch of your company, you're going to have a hard time finding a decent paying job that isn't in retail, fast food, or in a warehouse to break your back for a buck. Narrow-mindedness and social ignorance seem to run rampant in this town...which is either hilarious in its absurdity or unnerving to witness. Wal-mart is sadly the "hot spot"...and there's a fair share of slipper-wearing, ashtray smelling Jerry Springer show veterans that go in and out of that place.
There is a really nice park here though...Tawawa Park. That is my favorite thing about Sidney. Lots to do there...pavillions for picnics, soccer fields, public pool, etc. And really pretty trails for walking/biking.

I've lived in Ohio my whole life and I'm looking to get out...the only thing that keeps me here really is the low cost of living. So if you're wanting to bulk up your saving account, Sidney may just be the answer to your prayers! However, if you're requiring culture, open-mindedness and a recreational atmosphere...you might want to pass on Sidney.
There really are nice neighborhoods here though, with genuinely nice people...but the bible-thumpers and self-righteous hypocrites may just make your stomach churn if you're used to a more liberal place.
