The two main freeways that feed Costa Mesa, the 405 and 55 are dying.

The 405 North from the 55 up to Fountain Valley is now congested more often than not. Even in the middle of the day on a weekend, or the early evening, or around before lunch on a weekday.

The silly massive carpool ramp project for the 55, and the new exits for the 405 did nothing to solve the crisis. It's not new construction in Costa Mesa that is the problem, it's the construction in places people travel to via Costa Mesa. There is tons of new construction in places that feed the 73 toll road. You cannot avoid the huge influx of traffic that dumps out into the 405/55 interchange from the 73 toll road.
