Not bad at all

I have lived in several states around the country and NY has been the best so far. Yes it does get cold, as Rochester does have 4 seasons unlike the south. It's an area of change, transitioning from manufacturing and the "legacy" companies like Kodak and Xerox. But because of that change the cost of living is low, housing is very affordable and traffic congestion is very good. The area has great parks and scenery and is pretty close to the big cities like NYC. It's much more laid back and relaxed than other places I have lived and other than the occasional winter storm doesn't have a lot of extremes. There's never a drought, it's very rarely blistering hot, there are never hurricanes or tonadoes or mudslides. It's not the most cosmopolitan area, but if you want that then head to LA. For a great place to live come to Rochester.
