Review of Nashville, Tennessee

A Question
Star Rating - 12/26/2007
I am an under 30 single black woman. My question is, how is the social scene for this demographic? Any comments would be helpful. I am trying to find a great place to relocate to and try to start a family. I am from the midwest(Indiana) so all the segregation/discrimination, conserative bible belt comments don't sway me because I've lived it in Indiana(a southern state in the North) my whole life and this is America, so where doesn't that exist? Once again thank you for your help! :)

I'm from Indianapolis. I don't live in Nashville, but you might want to look at Atlanta, GA. This is where I stay and Love It!

Thanks! Both of these reviews were very helpful esp the one from the person(i'm assuming a SBW) moving to Charlotte!

The social scene is good if you are a white, under 40, and into country music. It is BORing (000OOOOooooYawn). If you are already married and settled it is OK too. Men here esp. Black men, but some white men also are very PASSIVE. So if you don't mind chasing and being very obvious then this is fine. Suprisingly Black men here are not very friendly esp if they have a little going for themselves and even if they don't. They cannot tell the difference between some one giving them a polite, cordial greeting (just plain southern hospitality) and trying to flirt with them (hence you are polite they think that you are trying to come on to them)and there are many that are not all great looking but they act as if they are Morris Chestnut (Tyrese, Shemar Moore or the sort). But if you are a 400lb or 80lb white women then you have your pick of Black Men. The white men seem kinda hesitant to approach. The ones that actually do approach are usually from Memphis or another state and city altogether. I'm moving to ChArLoTtE, NC in the summer of 2008 (have some family there) and will be glad to do so. I have 2 friends who are moving to other cities this summer as well for similar reasons and an associate that moved back to Chicago because they all just don't like Nashville. It is good for the demographic mentioned at the beginning. Hope that this was helpful.
