I agree! and after my assignment here, I am going back to Charlotte (thank you very much!,Thanks, but No Thanks).....I'm single (so certainly not). And if I had a family and children (although it is a relatively safe place)..I would want my child to be exposed to more of a variety of cultures (more of a reflection of the world). I can say that I have been treated pretty well on the job, everyone is nice.....The town is just not for me

You mean your 2-3 murders last year? So you mean the illegals killed approximately 2 and a half people?! Gotta be kidding!!

I'm a African-American woman coming there to work (Hendersonville) for 10 months. I will be commuting from Charlotte, but will stay in Hendersonville during the week.. I noticed something similar to what you spoke of...The younger people (perhaps age 40 and younger) are relatively friendly, but women will speak of most ages. The mid-age and older white men will not even speak. (But I was only there for a few hours, so I will not come to a final conclusion yet). Looking forward to the next 10 months after your comment (sarcasm!). Don't like being looked at like im from another planet. I went to a natural food store in a nearby town and the white women and young people were pleasant. But a white male (about mid-age) shopper kinda rolled his eyes with a blank expression. Here's the kicker, before I left the mid-age lady (note: this is when I was leaving the store and I said " I have to have my friends visit this area". Not referring to the store per se. But I guess she did not completely hear what I said. Nevertheless, she was nice all the while) who worked the said "We welcome everyone here". Why did that even NEED to be said?

I am sure, I may be wrong that TQ is is an African-American female. Therefore she may be able to see a whole different side of the coin ( Nashville is different from other places in the south) Don't compare it to Charlotte, Jacksonville, Atlanta Houston, Raleigh, or even Memphis for these places are a bit different with people with different (not so isolated and exclusive) mentality. All parts of the south are not all the same. Things here are pretty much strictly country and anglo oriented which is suprising because there are many different kinds of people in Nashville but things (people) seem to be isolated with an isolated state of mind. Good place if you are married with children of any demographic.

The social scene is good if you are a white, under 40, and into country music. It is BORing (000OOOOooooYawn). If you are already married and settled it is OK too. Men here esp. Black men, but some white men also are very PASSIVE. So if you don't mind chasing and being very obvious then this is fine. Suprisingly Black men here are not very friendly esp if they have a little going for themselves and even if they don't. They cannot tell the difference between some one giving them a polite, cordial greeting (just plain southern hospitality) and trying to flirt with them (hence you are polite they think that you are trying to come on to them)and there are many that are not all great looking but they act as if they are Morris Chestnut (Tyrese, Shemar Moore or the sort). But if you are a 400lb or 80lb white women then you have your pick of Black Men. The white men seem kinda hesitant to approach. The ones that actually do approach are usually from Memphis or another state and city altogether. I'm moving to ChArLoTtE, NC in the summer of 2008 (have some family there) and will be glad to do so. I have 2 friends who are moving to other cities this summer as well for similar reasons and an associate that moved back to Chicago because they all just don't like Nashville. It is good for the demographic mentioned at the beginning. Hope that this was helpful.
