Try living in Southern California. I pay $1650 per month plus utilities for a one bedroom apt. One bedroom condos are $180,000 - $200,000 for 700 square feet. I pay $10,000 per year for healthcare. Next year I'll pay $11,500 per year.
Gas is $4.79/ gallon for 87 grade. It's going up to $5.00/gallon. I have to buy my gas at Costco. I spend about $95 per week on food for one small woman. Food costs have soared sky-high here. Going out for dinner without a coupon is unheard of and not done very often.
Being over 40? Unless you are a size 2 (I'm a six) with big fake boobs, you will not even be looked at. Superficiality galore.
Traffic? You don't know traffic until you live in So. Cal. In LA, it will take you 40 minutes to just get onto the On Ramp; 30 minutes on the On Ramp and then you are on the highway to NO WHERE FAST. Rude drivers?
In LA, they try to kill you or run you off the road, NO MERCY. Public transportation? Carry a taser and never take the bus after dark in LA.
School systems? You cannot send your kid to a public school here. You MUST pay for Private Schools (approx. $25,000) per year starting in KINDERGARTEN. Public school classes have 40 students, one teacher, half of the kids don't speak English, half are ADHD, and it's too dangerous for your child to attend. Teachers are paid $30,000 per year here if they have tenure.
Unless you earn over $150,000 per year as a single person; $250,000 per year as a couple, YOU WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO BUILD WEALTH HERE.
And don't even get me started on the Homeless here that carry the HIV / HEPATITUS viruses and Flesh Eating Diseases. I've been attacked TWICE during the daytime in a safe? neighborhood where I live.
Cable TV (Basic Only) / Internet / Phone service: $ 150/mo.
Real Unemployment Figure is 15% -17% in CA, if not higher. Forget what they say in the news about 12.3% which is bull.
Mexico is 25 miles away and the illegal drug cartels have come into San Diego. I moved from my last complex as there was a well-known Mexican Meth Dealer who lived there from one of the cartels who sold out of his apt. He paid 12 months CASH in advance and signed a lease. There also was a DEATH TO AMERICA MUSLIM UNDER INDICTMENT living there as well, so Homeland Security stopped by once a week. (joke) There were bomb threats 3 times a year in the garage. And NO SECURITY. This WAS a 5 star condominium complex.
