Review of Corona, California

Wonderful City to live!
Star Rating - 10/24/2008
I moved here to Corona from a city in Los Angeles county called West Covina. When moving here I noticed much difference from the city I used to call "home". I moved out here when I was 17 just to get away from things and having a great job making well over 80k a year at that age was perfect. So I found a very nice apartment and got to know the area very well. For a town I knew little about. I saw that Corona officials and City Council move very rapidly at building and fixing things. The city is comprised mostly of Higher Class Republican individuals who moved here from mostly Orange County cities but also love it. It is often said to be the "Beverly Hills of Riverside County". I can tell you since moving here things have just got better for myself. Since it's the closest Inland Empire city to Orange County and a half hour drive to Beach Cities there is a lot of money you can make. The city is filled with BMW's, Mercedes, Jaguar, Roll's Royce, and have even seen a few Bugatti Veyron's like my neighbor. I now have lived here for a few years and recently purchased a once million dollar home that went into foreclosure for $780k. Although, Corona is a relatively nice city it has it's area's that aren't. The crime here is very low you won't find much crime but the downtown areas near the City of Home Gardens and Main St/6th st are the area's that would be considered Corona's poorest neighborhoods while Foothill Ranch and Dos Lagos area are filled with Multi-million dollar homes (There are 2 currently listed over 72,000,000) and Upscale shopping mall at Dos Lagos.

Sounds like you are a material girl. Corona is not Beverly Hills of Riverside County. Corona is a modest city that has a middle class feel to it. Corona gets pretty hot in the summer from July to October.Temperatures can regularly be in the upper 90's into the hundreds in the summer and you will need to run your air conditioning on a daily basis in the summer months. The air quality is terrible, especially in the summer months. You can't even see the nearby mountains in the summer because of the smog in the air. In the winter months the temperatures are very nice, never gets colder then the 40's at night and usually in the 60's in the day in winter months. Corona has 2 seasons, spring and summer. If you like to enjoy seasons I would not recommend Corona. Another thing about Corona is getting there by car from Orange County. There is only 1 way to Corona from OC and that is the dreaded 91 freeway. If you have to commute to work and it is in OC be prepared for congestion on the 91.It is more affordable to live in Corona over OC but with the commute in heavy traffic daily and the high price of gas in California it is almost cheaper to live in OC and save on the frustration of the commute and cost of fuel.
