Review of Laughlin, Nevada

Small town with nothing to offer
Star Rating - 11/20/2021
Boring little casino town. Good way to waste your life here. You got Meth-head city across the dirty river. Some water activities if you aren’t broke but that stuff is mostly used by tourists. If you’re not a senior citizen you only have two choices of apartments. Both places are terribly run and frankly physically worn down too. Two gas stations a family Dollar and a food market if you don’t feel like driving over the border to get more affordable groceries. It’s mostly old people and some poor rundown folks. Most of these people have no life. And get it it might be kind of quiet and relaxing but if you’ve ever lived anywhere you’re just gonna waste your life here doing nothing. The summertime times are run in to the 120s. High winds are common. The only way this town is livable is if you moved here from somewhere else came here with money and you can take advantage of the low cost of living. It’s not a city of opportunity. If you’re looking for a small town I say keep looking this ain’t it.

Beautiful, little town centered on the banks of the Colorado River, boasting World Class entertainment, a potpourri of fine dining options and outdoor recreation. The town is centered higher from the river recreational area that hosts a number of casinos. It is in the hills, away from the gambling venues. The town offers services of a small shopping center that boasts a lovely, little market with a deli, a hair salon, DMV services, a senior center, a pizza parlor, a Mexican fast food restaurant. The community boasts a senior center, that hosts community provided day care for kids, an elementary school and a high school, , a newer library, a municipal pool, a park that has tennis courts, baseball fields and a basketball court, a dog park, hiking trails, an American Legion facility that holds events and serves food, rock climbing in the hills, a public beach on Lake Mojave, a large marina and quality golfing at Avi Resort, and Laughlin Ranch, just a few miles out of town. The local park offers a walking trail, dog park, tennis courts and basketball courts. Daycare is offered by the PAL program at the senior center. There is a small mall that hosts a few manufacturers outlets… a few clothing stores and a good sized Pendleton outlet, a small restaurant, as well as a shoe store. The town boasts two gas stations with convenience stores, a Dollar discount store, a bank, several real estate offices and many shopping venues and restaurants across the river in Arizona. It is a Mecca for active seniors, with a desert firearms shooting range outside the town and a large marina with boat storage. On the edge of town is a state park located on the river that offers camping accommodations. Recreational activities abound, with water sports, hiking trails, a public beach on Lake Mojave, jet skiing on the lake and river, , ATVing in the desert, rock climbing… two local medical facilities exist, supported by a professional ambulance service, public protection is offered by Las Vegas Metro. The town offers a few cocktail lounges, where neighbors meet. The town is filled with active seniors… many of which are retired law enforcement officers, supporting themselves with more than adequate pensions. The cost of living is low. Home prices have risen and are comparable to California urban housing, averaging abt $350:000;to purchase a home. There are many affordable condos.. Utility costs are low and make Laughlin living affordable. Several churches exist in the community, offering religious and social activities. A senior center exists, also offering activities. This little village is a sweet, quiet place to live, filled with friendly, active seniors and young families.
