Undiscovered Gem - 11/27/2015
Priced out of everywhere else in LA that's supposed to be 'hip', I found myself looking at places to live in the hills of Tujunga.
Can't believe it hadn't occurred to me to check this area out sooner.
Ok, it's a little sleepy - but I can drive a generally traffic free route to Burbank studios every day to work in around 25 minutes, plus get most other places fast and without wasting hours sitting in trafiic on the freeways. Now I get to live in a nice big house in the hills for the same money as a tiny hovel in a sketchy area of Highland Park. The neighborhood is totally friendly. Is a slow and steady neighborhood, with mostly automotive related businesses. Few bars, fewer clubs. Its like a retirement place. Worst place for young adults to live. Plenty of property crimes happpen, and a lot of cars are being stolen, but the violence is low. Strict traffic is being enforced by LAPD. Fast cable broadband is available. People rarely walk outside. Population class ranges from below poverty to higher middle class. Not much employment. The buses 90 and 91 come every 40 minutes or so.
