Re: Edgeater - 3/12/2010
Wow ! that's an interesting posting. I am very familiar with Edgewater and I researched almost everything you've said and almost everything you said is completely FALSE. For example ...... your reference to the crime statistics are completely untrue and misleading, I see where your going by trying to imagine IF Edgewater was a 100,000 person city and multiplying everything. Even with that bizarre way of looking at it, you are still wrong ! Why don't you just say it for what it is. For example Edgewater reported the following to CBI (Colorado Bureau of Investigations) in 2008. 482 total incidents, 0 murders , 0 Sex Assaults, 5 robberies, 43 Assaults( only 6 by hands or feet and 0 with gun or knife), 29 Burglaries, 31 vehicle thefts and 252 thefts. this isn't even close to what you claim of "6,704 incidents, 18.8 murders, 188.3 robberies, 263.7 assaults, 508.5 burglaries, 4,821 thefts, 885.1 vehicle thefts".
Also you mention Edgewood and say it is part of Edgewater, when in fact Read More

Edgewater is the Colorado Mayberry - 1/25/2010
Edgewater is a very small suburb west of Denver. I think its only a square mile. Its an oasis, a clean and safe little town, It's like Mayberry here, it has a little tiny Mayberry library and it's own little Mayberry police station where the policeman sits in a rocking chair out front! It's one the places where you don't have to lock your front door. It's full of beautiful little homes with beautiful yards. the town sits on the edge of Sloans Lake (where I imagine its name comes from) I love living here, it's a clean and quiet. I moved here from California, I've lived here for the last 10 years and I have had zero problems. I wouldn't live anywhere else. I think it is the perfect place to raise your children. Big city crime is almost non existent, the people are super friendly, and my family feels very safe Read More

well.... - 1/20/2010
some pople know about edgewater and well ..... some dont. some people dismiss it as a wannabe place and its not. edgewater has crime, just like any other urban neighborhood in a big city of three million people. so let the stats represent what its like. the neighborhood is only about 5,000 people, meaning there really should not be much crime at all. however, the crime in edgewater per 100,000 people is as follows: 6,704 incidents, 18.8 murders, 188.3 robberies, 263.7 assaults, 508.5 burglaries, 4,821 thefts, 885.1 vehicle thefts. those are quite high for a neighborhood consisting of 5,000 people. also, what a lot of people dont know is that just south of edgewaters border is the scummy lakewood area of west colfax called EDGWWOOD. meaning, its part of edgewater and lakewood at the same time. and let me tell you that along west coflax ave between teller st. and sheridan blvd in edgewood aint no joke. plenty and plenty of robberies and vehicle thefts happen every other day. i love Read More

urban - 1/2/2010
Edgewater was one of THE up and coming neighborhoods in the denver metro area for a long time. throughout the 1970's, 80's and early to mid 90's, Edgewater was a pretty nice little area smack dab in the urban city. However, the neighborhood has changed a great deal from the late 90's to present day. Edgewater sits right on the border of Denver county and the nice white suburbia suburbs. I have lived in the west colfax neighborhood in denver for my earlier years and i lived in the edgewater neighborhood from 2006-2009. I have now moved to the villa park neighborhood. Edgewater has a crime rate of 67 incidents per 1,000 people, a lot higher than it was in the 90's and a lot higher than national averages. while living there, i can remember hearing frequent gun shots and sirens so often that it became an ordinary thing. yes, edgewater has some good things about it, but nevertheless it has its problems like an neighborhood in an urban city. property crime is an every single night thing. Read More
