Elizabethton, TN is a small city located in northeastern Tennessee. It is home to around 14,000 people and has been historically known for its strong sense of community and hometown pride. Politics in Elizabethton are dominated by the Republican Party, having gone to Republican candidates in the past couple of presidential elections. The current mayor of Elizabethton is Curt Alexander, who was elected after defeating incumbent Mayor Sam LaPorte in 2019. Other city council members include Tom Bowers, James Reid, and Jennifer Andes. All three are Republicans who have been supportive of the city’s economic growth over the past few years. In addition to local politics, the state government has had a strong influence in Elizabethton with numerous state representatives coming from this area. This includes State Senator Jon Lundberg and State Representative David Hawk who both represent district 1 which includes Elizabethton as part of their districts.
