Leeds, Maine is a small town in Androscoggin County with a population of around 2,500. It has a government consisting of a Town Manager and Board of Selectmen, who oversee all of the town's matters and decisions. The current Town Manager is Ray Carr who was appointed in 2019. Leeds is also home to two state representatives: Senator Bill Diamond and Representative Katherine Cassidy, both Democrats. In addition, the town has several other local political offices including a clerk, treasurer, police chief and fire chief. All elections for these positions are held on an annual basis and involve members of the community taking part in voting. Politics in Leeds are generally quite supportive of progressive causes such as environmentalism and social justice. There is also strong support for businesses in the area as well as investments that will benefit the local economy. Residents are encouraged to participate in their local politics by attending meetings or volunteering for campaigns when elections come up.
