Tazewell County, Virginia is located in the southwestern part of the state. It is a small rural county with a population of approximately 45000 people. The county is governed by an elected board of supervisors, who are responsible for developing and adopting policies and regulations to ensure the county runs smoothly. They also appoint and supervise county staff members, including the county administrator, as well as oversee all aspects of the budget. Local elections for general offices such as sheriff, clerk of court, commonwealth's attorney, and board of supervisors are held every four years. The current Board of Supervisors consists of three Republicans and two Democrats. In addition to this board, there are also numerous local committees that work together to advise on various topics such as education, economic development, public safety, and more. Residents have the opportunity to get involved through civic organizations or by attending public meetings to voice their opinions on important issues facing the community.
