Mesquite is growing again! - 2/6/2012

We live in Del Webb Sun City Mesquite, NV. My husband and I are retired and are having the time of our lives. We wake up to beautiful panoramic mountains that turn purple at sunset! Del Webb has built over 800 homes in our community! There is no end to ongoing activities. Getaways include: Vegas on weekends and St George, Utah, during the week. We are always happy to get back to Mesquite and the small-town atmosphere, though. Everything is within walking distance: Banks, hospital, general care, Walmart, Smiths, Bealls, pizza, chocolate store, sushi, Ace, and of course the casinos. Activities happen here every week: Branson Out West, Balloon Fest, Car Shows, ReMax Long Drive Golf, Chili Cookoffs, parades, Wine and Beer Fests, Weekly Entertainment at the casinos, etc. Hopefully, the new indoor sports arena will be built soon! Come live in Mesquite! [read more...]

Boom town gone bust - 10/6/2011

Now that this Nevada desert boom town has long gone bust, those who can afford to leave by realizing an incredibly depleted equity in property values are packing up and moving elsewhere. In a city that has always been geared towards the geriatric community, the young and restless, and familes alike are discriminated against. Those who are a member of a minority group, whether it be of race or political views of anything other than extreme right-wing, will be targeted by the local justice. With all but two casinos shut down, and with hundreds of vacant and unfinished homes remaining, there is little to offer in this miserable desert valley. [read more...]

Mesquite quality of life.... - 3/8/2010

Lived here for a total of 3 yrs. Declining economy, astoundingly high gasoline prices, substandard medical care and people in the area seem to be there as they can't afford Sun City or Scottsdale etc. Those are the retirees. Mayor was being investigated by FBI and the list goes on. It's a nice spot. Has it's own water which has not been sold or claimed by LA or Vegas. If you want to live in a condo or the like - this is the time to buy while prices are dropping like stones. Never seems to have been a good reason for gasoline prices to be so high. Watch which cell phone coverage you get- some works only in part of the city. Nice nice rec center.[read more...]

Mesquite NV Encourages Business Growth - 3/20/2008

Mesquite is the fastest-growing city in Nevada, yet it remains a small town community. Our population is 18,000 and growing quickly, expected to reach close to 27,000 by the year 2012. Our new industrial park at the west end of town is drawing interest from businesses of all sizes who are looking at relocating to the corporation friendly state of Nevada. The new Ford dealership and Do it Best Hardware are already established in the industrial park along with the other new businesses already committed to Mesquite, creating jobs and boosting our economy.[read more...]

You get what you pay for - 10/11/2007

Mesquite is a beautiful, clean, safe & new city. Housing costs seem average- not high for this part of the country. Compared to California, it is a steal! Most all of the housing is only a few years old, and the quality & upgrades you find here are incredible. The lots are also larger (except for Pulte Homes). We found it less expensive here than CO, OR, AZ, NM and everywhere in CA. Do the research...Mesquite is a great retirement community and also a great place to raise a family. We are close to the beautiful State Parks of Utah, the excitement of Vegas and skiing in Brian Head. More business are popping up every week. They say this is the next Palm Springs, so get in while it IS still affordable.[read more...]

Home Cost Mesquite NV - 10/17/2005

Mesquite is a quiet little town with four casinos and golf courses it is a wonderful place to raise children, however there is no real paying jobs here,it has alot of snowbirds due to the beautiful year round climate, almost no crime and is very safe. The bad side of Mesquite is its over priced housing, home and condo prices here are virtually unobtainable if you work for a living. What has happened to Mesquite and Las Vegas is the population growth from people moving from California to Nevada and they sell there homes in CA for ridiculous amounts and then move to Nevada and buy cheaper homes and have plenty of pocket money left, but this has drawn the cost of homes up in Nevada so us working class can't afford to live the american dream of home ownership. thanks California![read more...]
