Review of Colorado Springs, Colorado

Political Trash Moving Here & Complaining.
Star Rating - 9/23/2021
Colorado Springs is a great place, I've lived there the past 11 years and have lived in Colorado my entire life. The problem I am seeing with a lot of these posts are that they're from people who move here from out of state, assuming Colorado Springs will be some haven for their alt-right philosophies and are disappointed to find we're just like any other city. A mix of races, ideologies, and a growing city that brings with it a rise in cost of living.

If you're wanting to move here because you think moving simply due to your political views is a smart idea; then please stay out of Colorado Springs. Don't trash it up, or talk trash, because you WASTED your money to move to somewhere based solely on your political views.

Yeah, things are getting kinda costly; but we're still cheaper than Denver. And that happens with a booming population. You can't expect the second largest city in the state to have the cheapest rent around. That's just not how it works.

No, I am not wealthy; I bust my ass at a retail job to make end's meet.
So if I can do that with my meager salary, there is no excuse - especially for someone moving from out of state. with the money to do so, to come here and complain about our prices nor our political stance. Move back if you're truly unhappy.

Give it a few months. Once you are at risk of losing your remote job and are staring down a low-end job market, figuring out that a TSCI costs $15k and paying your $2k mortgage, you will understand why this is the wrong comment to leave. Most jobs in the Springs pay < $17 and hour. The drive to a place where the government isn't the only source of good pay takes 2.5 hours one way now. Good Luck! I moved back to Aurora, CO where I can buy a condo at the same price 30 minutes from my job. My backup option, Vermont. Worst case, St Charles. All blue a-f.

Colorado Springs really is no cheaper than Denver now, and realistically may be actually be more expensive when considering all external factors. The value proposition is a message that is still being pushed by the city and developers to try and continue luring people to the town. The pay in Colorado Springs tends to be lower than Denver for comparable work. Housing options are fewer in Colorado Springs and when you compare salary to housing cost, Colorado Springs loses out on affordability in many cases. Employment opportunities are fewer, and Colorado Springs is highly dependent on government/military spending and always will be. Culture and amenities are far fewer in Colorado Springs, than in Denver. Property crime rates in Colorado Springs are extremely high compared to similar cities. When you add it all up, Colorado Springs is not a value proposition compared to Denver any more. It's priced like a top tier city that is far from being a top tier city. Blot out the mountains to the west and Colorado Springs is basically no different than a typical midwest city...except it costs 200% more.
