City Politics have Ruined St. George

The city fathers have always been kind of backward, and insensitive to the citizens. But now that the Californians have arrived in droves, and brought their crime with them, the city is totally catering to them. They have money and money talks.
Us poor St. Georgians have no say at all now. This used to be a quaint small historical town with surrounding beauty. Now, St. George code enforcement constantly trespasses on private property to see if you are doing anything out of compliance. They even peek over block walls to see if your back yard is as pristine as they want it to be. If not, off to city court you go, where they have already found you guilty and assess insane fines. $25 per day, per violation. Each unregistered car is a violation. That includes classic cars being restored. Have a few weeds? Oops, another $25 a day. Kids toys strewn around the yard, another fine. No boat, waverunner or any motorized vehicle can be stored outside, it has to be inside a structure. You can't park in the dirt on your own property. It must be cemented, not even graveled. Many fines are easily $5000. Don't pay it and they forclose on your property to get their unreasonable fine. St. George is getting rich off of it's poor citizens.
This city has been turned into a police state. The city is the Gestapo watching everything you do. One lady asked the city inspector who was nitpicking her yard. "Is this Russia?"
One small complaint from those who are intolerant, but have money and you are going to have a bad day. You also can't run a home business. You can't even have UPS or FedEx deliver to your home, since that would mean you are running a business. Even AVON can't be sold from your home with product on hand.
They are trying to turn St. George into Palm Springs. Only the elite are welcome.
I could go on and on. But the old saying is 100% accurate in this case. You can't fight city hall.
Needless to say, I'm moving the first chance I get. It's has been a long miserable 18 years.
Sorry I couldn't talk St. George up like others have, but someone has to tell the down side as well.
