moving to cali

My husband is considering a job transfer to california. The open areas for us to choose from are are Fresno, and the bay areas. We can do a suburb of Fresno. We were looking at Lemoore but the negative reviews have me worried. Can someone suggest a better area? We are from the Midwest and are sick of winter. We also have 3 kids and need a good school system. We love outdoor activities in warm weather of course. any advice will be appreciated.
