8/10/2012teacherI adore Christ Lutheran School not only for the fine Christian and academic foundation my 2 boys received here at CLS but also for the caring, loving, attentive, and proactive staff and administration. From experience, many hours are spent formulating and creating the very best environment for all students.
8/6/2012parentAll three of my children have attended CLS since preschool. Two have graduated and moved onto high school and one remains. I'm so thankful for the foundation (both Christian and academic) that the teachers and staff have given them so they can succeed in high school. I've also had a wonderful opportunity to meet and work with other CLS parents through their parent organization, which is very active and well organized.
7/16/2012parentWe have been at CLS for many good years. Since preschool we have seen a lot of teachers come and go and there is not a satisfactory discipline plan for junior high. Now the outstanding music teachers are gone as well as the new and adored Jump Alive director. My child is crushed by these changes. We will attend a new school this fall.
4/17/2012parentAt first I thought this would be a great school for my son. I have been a witness to bullying in jr high, my son repeatedly has been targeted and the administration do not seem to care. I do not recommend this school.
3/10/2012parentMy previous review should have shown a 5 star rating. I recommend this school to all parents who want a quality education for their child.
8/3/2011parentI can't say enough GREAT things about this school. I pulled my son from a Catholic school mid-year because I could tell it wasn't a good "fit". The teachers at CLS are WONDERFUL and my son learned things in 5 months that amazed me. The faculty & families are all very warm & welcoming. We plan on staying here until it's time for high school. Thanks CLS!!!
11/29/2010parentWe are catholic and left our catholic school to attend Christ LUtheran as we were tired of the large class sizes but wanted the christian family atmosphere with a great education...and we GOT IT! the teachers are awesome, the pastors are in tune with the children and are an active part of their lives and the education is superb. Everyone cares at CLS and we are part of a family. WE ARE HAPPY and do not regret the change whatsoever!
7/11/2010parentI LOVE many things about CLS, the family support, the Christian values and the class sizes. I think "Chapel" could be a little less intense in both time and content for the younger students (K-2). I don't believe the message would be lost by keeping it short and sweet, if they tune-out do to their inherent attention span being 10-15 minutes; you've lost the teaching moment after that time frame anyway and possibly turned off the learner by keeping them any longer.
10/30/2009parentHaving transferred from an excelling school is the SUSD, we were concerned that the academic expectations at CLS would not match Hopi. Nothing could be further from the truth. The teachers push the students to excel in a loving and nuturing way. Gradelink (an online grade program) is updated daily so you always know how your student is performing academically. The class sizes are small, the environment inclusive for both students and parents and the communication from the school outstanding. The before and after school program offers an affordable option to parents, the sports program is great and music and art fills the halls.
6/12/2009parentHonestly, all i can say is the experience we had at this school, was extremely unfortunate. I would never recommend this school to any christian family, or any family for that matter.
6/2/2009parentI have three kids that have attended christ lutheran for the last year. We have found the education and the enviroment to be exactly what we were looking for. The class room sizes are kept to a size that gives the teachers ability to teach each child. The staff honestly cares for the kids and there futures. We were also relieved that are kids made the transition so smoothly and the school truley embraced our family. Its great to know your kids are happy and receiving a great education. I would recommend this school to anyone who wants there kids to feel part of a community where smart is cool!
4/4/2009studentAs a past graduate of Christ Lutheran School, I can say without a doubt, that my experience at CLS has been the best experience of my life. I attended from 6th throgugh 8th. The curriculum was strong in ever aspect, homework was very proportioned. Most importantly, I became the person that I want to be. I was nurtured as a person, and the teachers each have an intimate connection with you. Never, in my time at CLS did I ever feel that a teacher did not care. Teachers are experts at their subjects, and you could not find better teachers anywhere. My faith was nurtured and strengthened, and if you are not religious, religion is not pushed upon you. If you have any doubts about sending your child(ren) to CLS, do not worry, by sending them to CLS, you are giving them the best possible tools of becoming a good person.
12/15/2008studentI, as an 8th student, say that this school is not great because there is way to much homework and horrible teachers who don't even know how to teach. But they do provide a Christian education, yet i would not recommend this school.
11/12/2007parentMy son has been a student at CLS since pre-school, and is now in 7th grade. The character and faith and love of the teachers is evident in their daily care of their students. The academic level of expectancy far exceeds the local public schools, and my son has been challenged to exceed in all areas. The school has sports programs as well as many after school activities. We travel 45 miles each way daily to make sure our son has this wonderful education. I'd recommend CLS to anyone.
6/5/2006parentChrist Lutheran School is an excellent school. My son graduated from their a few years back and absolutely loved it. He was a very quiet and shy boy until grade 5, when he moved to CLS. It seemed to open him up more and he talked to people and met a lot more friends there then he had in grade K-5, at public school. The kids at CLS are much nicer and more open to meeting friends than at a public school. The academics were great. He learned a lot at CLS, and the teachers were very nice. Not only did the teachers teach well, but they loved each and every student too. If your child does not play sports like basketball and baseball, it will be tougher for them to find after school activities. During school though, the band, bells, and Choir are excellent and recommended! Parents are very involved!
1/11/2006parentExcellent ,stable, proven professionals. Nuture all childern and challenge them to be their very best , morally, and academically. Teachers communicate frequently and respond to child's needs & parents openly and resoectfully. administrators are top notch. excellent music program and arts program. Students utilize technology in primary grades thru junior high. Best school we have ever been a part of .
4/23/2004former studentCLS is a aweesome school. As a graduate of the school I can safely say that all of the hard work I did there paid off. CLS has taught me the foundation of what I can now base my life. CLS has not only helped me excell acedemically, but strengthened my relationship with God as well. I cannot say enough great things about this school. And the memories that I made there still are fresh in my mind. CLS is not only a school it is a community filled with love and compassion.
10/23/2003parentI have two children enrolled at Christ Lutheran School. My daughter is in 7th grade and my son is in 1st grade. Both enjoy going off to school in the morning. This is quite different from my feelings when I was their age. I believe a big part of this is due to the loving care they receive along with the many examples Christian faith and acts they witness daily. They are learning both academics and the Bible in a well controlled and extremely safe environment. The academics are top-notch which will prepare them well for High School. The Bible teaches them to be caring and a service to others, along with so many other things, that will stay with them and help them their entire life.
