4/4/2012teacherWhat a wonderful school! The student body is so diverse and it is obvious the staff loves their job! I have substituted at several schools in this county and Briarwood is one of my favorites.
3/27/2012parentIn my opinion, the good reputation of schools in Bowling Green are generally based on whichever has the most rich white kids. Briarwood is the perfect example. Not a bad school by any means, but definitely not as great as people make it sound.
8/28/2011parent think this school has a great parent/teacher organization, lots of great teachers, and has improved since Ms Richey retired, simply because she was so self-absorbed. I wrote a review a few years ago on this particular school and its administration, but it was removed....maybe because it was worded too negatively...however, as long as a review is still polite I dont think it is fair to remove it when it is a true reflection of a parent's views regarding the school. My original evaluation was very low but i am pleased to see some more positive administrative support now for the teachers that are there..makes a big difference, and i certainly feel that the school has earned its current rating in the past year.
8/26/2009parentI moved here from Alabama two years ago and my daughter is now 3rd grade. She loves the school and her teachers as well as Ms Richey. As long as she is happy, I LOVE IT!!! Keep up the GREAT WORK BRIARWOOD!!!
1/20/2009parentMy children started Briarwood a year ago after moving here from Louisville. It has been nothing but a excellent school for us. Way better than the one in Louisville. Both of children love the school, the teachers , great friends and a awesome principal....though it seems that some don't like her . The some that don't like Mrs. Richey should go checkout the principals in Louisville then you would greatly appreciate her. I feel that my kids are in safe and great hands at Briarwood. I am very pleased with the school.
7/2/2008parentBriarwood is one of the better schools in town, but Debbie Richie really needs to retire. The school succeeds largely in spite of her lack of leadership ability. Still...as a parent you'd be well served to move to this district.
9/27/2007parentI am not impressed with Briarwood this year as I was last year. My child is in 1st grade & I feel his class is too advanced.
7/26/2007parentI am involved in extracurricular activities with Briarwood children. Briarwood really isn't concerned with helping us out as far as scheduling and a place to practice. I was shown the door twice when I saw other coaches (at other schools) having no problems. We are with Warren Parks and Recreation so you'd think Ms. Richey would let us! I agree with a previous poster that she is way too caught up in herself!! On a more positive note, the parents seem very involved and safety/discipline is paramount!!
9/25/2006parentAll I have heard since I have moved to Bowling Green is how Briarwood Elementary is this great school. Well, I have to say my child's experience in kindergarten was great!!! He had a wonderful teacher. But from day one I haven't been too impressed with the principal. I think she focuses too much on herself, rather than the kids. That is just my opinion. As for this school year, I don't have much of an opinion of his teacher or class yet. Hopefully it will go as well as last year. I am keeping my fingers crossed.
8/11/2006parentBriarwood Elementary is by far the leader-of-the-pack when it comes to top-notch education in a family atmosphere! The musical put on under Adrea Brown's guidance every year is a spetacular production that compares to Nashville's children's musicals. The number of parents helping out at the school always surprises me. Every educator is driven to see their students succeed and truly care about each child and their family. After being in an accident that limited my mobility for several weeks, my sons' teachers, from past and current school years, sent home dinner for my family as well as many well wishes. As a past secondary educator, the caring and involvement at Briarwood unsurpasses any I've ever encountered. You're child will thrive at this school!
2/16/2006parentI would not want my child anywhere else. I have 4 children and 3 out of the four have attended Briarwood. My third child will be in her last year there and I am already feeling like I am losing part of my family. Thankfully my fourth child will be at Briarwood in two years. He already wants to go to Briarwood with his siblings. The teachers, academics, Ms. Richey down to Mr. James are the absolute best. If you want a caring family atmosphere for your child Briarwood is the way to go.
2/1/2006parentGreat academic competator with local private schools. High parent involvement. many activities available to students. Great environment for students. Even the cafeteria food isn't too bad.
1/18/2006parentFrom day one Briarwood has risen above and beyond my wildest dreams. The fall festival was almost the size of a county fair and the PTA involvment was more than I imagined. I have to admit that seeing the children run up to Mrs.Richey(the principal) yelling her name like she was a Hollywood superstar was a first. My daughter loves school and I wouldn't think of having her attend anywhere else!
7/26/2004parentI could not ask for more carring teachers. My child is so comfortable in school i couldnt imagion transfering him to another. I realized at the 2004 pre k graduation that the teachers and the principal love the childeren attending that school as if they were there own kids. Its like having family with your child all day long! We Love it!
