The good and bad of the Valley - 8/10/2006
I've lived in the Phoenix area for over 2 years now after having moved here from Buffalo, New York, its an imporvement over that down and it does have many benefits. Obviously the number one benefit here is the weather and the surplus or outdoor activities. Pretty much from mid October until mid may you can expect very nice weather, with the coldest temperatures being a chilling 30 degrees at night maybe one time in December. If you love golf, this is a great place to live as there are more gold places in Phoenix than any other city in the world. You can find anything from low grade municipal courses to some of the finest resorts in the world. There are many ways to get out of the city fast if you wish as well, San Diego, los Angeles, Las vegas and Flagstaff are all withing a few hours drive, plus there's tons of national and state parks for the day tripper.
Now, thats the good the bad also exists here as well. the worst thing about Phoenix, the summer. Good god is

Qualtiy of Life very low---Healthcare exteremely p - 8/6/2006
If you are considering living or retiring here. Think again. Healthcare and quality of life here is very poor. Phoenix culture is one of fear. The messages are don't talk with your neighbor, he might be a criminal. Be careful of a business deal, everyone's a crook. People regularly and openly talk about hating specific groups of people. Even at workplaces. Court system reflects this also. Be careful on the highway you may be shot. The question about traffic here isn't whether you've been in a car accident it's how many car accidents you have been in. Phoenix is called "Little LA". Phoenix is all the bad things about a city and none of the good. Traffic is outta control and continues to get worse. With an ultra conservative popluation whose pokcet books are more important than quality of life, there's little hope that good working transportation alternatives other than sitting in parking lot-like traffic jams. Traffic jams consistent of a lot of road rage and people who are

better than snow - 8/1/2006
People complain about our summer heat, but you have options to beat the heat. Mountains are less than 2 hours away and CA is less than an hour by air. We have one of the best airports in the country and I think a lot of people don't realize it. When the heat is getting to you....get in the car and take the 87 up North, you will love

Phoenix Overall - 7/24/2006
Look, like any place Phoenix has its pluses and minuses. For some, Phoenix may be a great and enjoyable place, but for me, I am ready to leave.
First the pluses: (a.) winter weather β easily the best thing about Phoenix. Coming here from the East Coast, I loved the fact that I could wear shorts during February. Also, a great place to play golf during the winter, although the greens fees do get pretty high; (b.) outdoor accessibility β Again, coming from the East Coast, I liked the fact that Phoenix was surrounded by mountains and the proximity to places like the Grand Canyon. There are some great camping locations very close and the climate can change surprisingly fast heading north. This is especially important during the summer (more about that later); (c.) women β being a single guy in graduate school, I am amazed by the amount of beautiful women out here. Maybe it has something to do with the amount of Californians here or maybe itβs something in the water, but
