We Love Hemet - 12/10/2023
My Aunt lived here for 19 years and we have lived here over 2 years. We love it here and I speak to many long time residents who also love it. The weather is great and you can't beat the beautiful scenery, everywhere you look. Downtown Hemet is kind of rough, but there are plenty of beautiful, quiet and low crime areas. Mesa, Arizona had much more graffiti than Hemet has and when we left Mesa the homelessness wasn't much less than here in Hemet. The Road rage in the Phoenix valley has gotten so scary. The roads are much more peaceful in Hemet and we have much less Read More

Love Hemet! - 2/20/2023
Great place for retirees and great prices to buy a home. Everything that you want is within 5 minutes and you can have horses in the city! It seems like they are trying to clean up the bad element we see lots of police cruising the town. Great temperatures in the winter and only gets really hot a few months but feels good. Beautiful mountain Read More

Armpit of Society - 10/3/2021
I have lived in this ****hole for most of my 36 years. Not only is the town crap but the corruption in the town is off the charts. The local police and sheriff rather play around in the hills busting pot farms than in the city keeping it safe. I was walking my dog and witnessed cold blooded murder (so my poor dogs dont get the exercise they need anymore) and I was the victim of a random home invasion that everyone of my windows in my house were bust and security screen kicked in, guys were arrested that night, police report given to my property manager just to be told i am responsible to fix my windows on my dollar (will be 4 years in Dec and widows still boarded up! NO THANKS TO BEST CHOICE PROPERTY MANAGEMENT! This town use to be alright it was a fairly safe community and then the members on city counsel started getting paid to allow scummy people in to destroy community. Crazy ass homeless people wander the streets day and night, People just relieve themselves on the sidewalk in Read More

No peace of mind in Hemet. - 3/6/2021
I lived in the Hemet San Jacinto area since 1994. I watched the area go from fair to bad and finally from bad to worse. With the county releasing prisoners in the area came an influx of drug dealers, and with criminals came criminals friends. As of 2020 I was afraid to go out anywhere at night. Not to go out to dinner, pick up a pizza or a quart of milk. I locked my doors, and then locked the bedroom door and kept a gun on the nightstand. I learned to live in fear in Hemet. Car theft is off the charts, home invasions, robbery, assault, burglary... Hemet is a place to avoid. In january of 2021 I moved out of Hemet and out of California. I encourage you to think twice before moving here. Your peace of mind and perhaps your life or that of your family may depend on Read More

Retirement town still? - 9/4/2016
I am 43 divorced with three awesome children. Grew up here and it has changed beyond belief starting in the 1990's. Now we 83,000 people in Hemet with 26,000 child molesters and more than I can count live by or next door to schools. Who is allowing this to be ok? I live between Walmart and west valley and my surrounding areas are 483 child molesters. One is only two street signs up and there is two schools within steps!! This is against the law? Why doesn't city of Hemet or the police make them move? My neighborhood is loaded with children !!! And my neighborhood is loaded with sec molesters that love and are attracted to children. They are suppose to live where there are NO children. Is this just a Hemet thing? And we all know who was here in the 90's why the town is so bad now. Because Hemet signed a contract with Riverside allowing to bring all the molesters and other bad crime criminals to Hemet to live because it was so cheap. Well now it is cheap. In a valley, with a lake, between LA and San Diego - 7/29/2014
I first came to Hemet in 1958, so to me, folks like Mike and Dian are the ones clogging Florida Ave (the main street). Others brought crime and other social problems, primarily from LA. However, Hemet is a great town filled with good people.

It used to be a retirement town (late 60s-late 80s), but the median age is now 38.8, and the median throughout California is only 35.3 years, so any perception of an "old folks place" is outdated by at least 25 or more years. We have 4 high schools in the city limits and others nearby, so all this is normal for any family-oriented city our size (just under 80,000).

Obama's Recession hit the city hard when it came to jobs and development, but that hurt the whole nation. When the national and state economic scenes improve, Hemet will continue on its prosperous path. Hemet is less expensive than most surrounding areas, but the quality of life is very good.  Read More

I agree with all the other comments about Hemet... - 3/23/2014
I moved here 13 yrs ago....the town was like living in Mayberry, with Andy and Barney. I felt comfortable and found driving was relaxing. Not anymore. They are so many people that moved here to rent and buy, and then the low life's came, druggies, thieves and hookers, and the traffic is a nightmare. I consider it the fault of the city council, and governor. But I have no idea where to go. I will not buy another home, but to pay out a large amount of rent isn't' an option for me either. I guess until is gets so bad that I can't stand it, I will continue to live here and make the best of it. i do own my home, and have upgraded it from top to Read More

Hemet's decline - 9/4/2012
Moved here in '64 to get away from exactly what Hemet has become, a ghetto! Business climate is in dire strait's, empty stores & offices all over the valley, hooker's, drug's gang's, traffic, beggar's, filthy neighborhoods, abandoned houses and housing project's, closed factories, high unemployement rate and no change for the better, in sight. We have HAD IT! House we have had since '82 lost 400K in value and we will take a loss, but at least we will be in a happy, safe, stress-free place in our new casa overlooking the Sea of Cortez, in San Felipe, Read More
