I have been a resident of Pleasanton and the Tri-Valley (including the cities of Dublin, Livermore, and San Ramon) for nearly 30 years. Perception of life quality in Pleasanton, or generally anywhere in the Tri-Valley depends, yes, largely on income. It's a very expensive and busy area to live in. Currently ranked #167 nationally in population by area, it hosts over 350,000 residents as of 2023. In order to own a home and be able to live comfortably, but no where close to extravent, a total annual family income of about $200,000 to be safe.
Extremely diverse area with several large ethnic groups dotting the map. Pleasanton itself, is probably 45% white (non-hispanic), 30% east asian (almost all chinese), 20% middle eastern (mostly from India), 5% black and other races.
Other than that, it ranks high in education/schools, safe and indescreet, many community parks and playgrounds, a traditional indoor shopping mall (Stoneridge), a nice retro-style

Pleasanton is quite expensive in many areas, but particularly in housing. We live in a home built in 1964 that is 1,540 square feet. 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Not upgraded significantly. Great weather, nice small town feeling with free concerts in the park over the summer months. The public school scores are some of the highest in the nation. Residents are friendly. Safe place to live. Public transportation is good. Close enough to the "big" city of San Francisco to enjoy all the Bay Area
