San Diego, California is a popular city located along the Pacific coast known for its sunny weather, beautiful beaches, and diverse culture. It is a highly desirable place to live, with a growing population and a strong economy. However, like any city, it also has its drawbacks. In order to gain a well-rounded perspective on what it's like to live in San Diego, we will summarize comments and reviews from various users on BestPlaces.net.

But the traffic and high cost of living can be overwhelming at times." On the other hand, Mark shares a different perspective, saying, "San Diego is the perfect balance of city life and beach living. The job opportunities are abundant and the people are friendly. I couldn't imagine living anywhere else." San Diego in general... - 4/14/2008
I came here with my wife a few years ago from Florida- Northwest Florida.

Having grown up surrounded by Southern hospitality, I am ever amazed at the indifferent and rude behavior of San Diegans, they just don't seem to care about anyone but themselves. The schools lack discipline entirely, due to a bunch of crybaby liberal parents who've taken away the ability of the school staff to enforce any rule. The general consensus is that all children are so precious in California that they could do no wrong- discipline is deemed unneccesary. Please give me a break.

To buy a home, you will spend $450,000.00 on a crummy old house built in the 1950's which needs a remodel to make it anything you'd want to live in. The yards are small, and the neighbors act like they don't want to know you.

Oh yes, you really need to speak Spanish here.

Having said all that, you can make a LOT of money here if you have any brains. I never made more than Read More

I've been in this area for the past 23 years and I love it because it is quite, close proximity to a lot of shopping areas, the weather is mostly sunny and mild except for some hot days which are not too bad, not too far drive to the coastal areas and the mountains and desert. It is also a good place to raise children and has a lot of good school Read More

A long-time residen't view on San Diego & North Co - 3/28/2008
San Diego is a Supermodel....blond, beautiful, somewhat shallow, but overall a pleasant and happy companion. More Golden Retriever than high-bred Borzoi. More playground than metropolis. There are all types of people here, you just have to seek them out.

For the pst 20 years, I have resided in coastal North San Diego County, all the while looking for "something better." As a basis for comparison, I've lived in Los Angeles CA, Reno NV, Honolulu HI, have traveled extensively through Europe, spent time in Texas, Canada, New York, and have driven cross-country in the USA.

Every time I travel elsewhere, upon returning home, I bend down and kiss my front porch in gratitude for being able to live in such a fair city (that's only somewhat of an exaggeration!)

The ocean is 2 miles from my door, the mountains and snow are a couple hours drive from here, as is the excitement of Las Vegas or Los Angeles. San Francisco is an 8 hour Read More

San Diego has the best weather, and the most geographic diversity of anywhere. You can be at the beach, the mountains, or the desert easily from anywhere in the county. I have traveled and lived all over the country, from coast to coast, but nothing beats San Diego. It is the Read More
