Cost of Living - 1/16/2008
The weather here is Awesome of course. Everyone knows that! But you can not buy a home unless you're in the 6 figure income category. And the crime is getting outrageous

So many extreme comments for such a sunny place - 1/16/2008
I am always surprised by the vitriol in these posts. How much animosity towards people with differing opinions.
Some room-temperature I.Q. observations: San Diego is not NYC. Well, duh.
Stop complaining about the weather/traffic/cost of living: you people are dreaming, everyone everywhere complains about the weather/traffic/cost of living. Get over it! Some place cheap with no traffic is where? Fargo maybe. Think about it, if someplace is desirable more people will move there, and it will cost more, duh!
The old mantra of changing that which you can, accepting that which you cannot change, and having the wisdom to know the difference between the two applies here.
San Diego has many problems, of course, but it offers alot more than most places and at a very reasonable cost compared to some. Maybe it is kind of a St. Louis by the sea, but if you don't expect it to be something it isn't you should do okay.
Having lived all over, I think San Diego is way

San Diego...No longer a utopia... - 1/6/2008
I've lived in San Diego twice in my life...each time I struggled because of the high cost of living...either you reworking 3 jobs to make the rent or your are experiencing the "Craigslist" phenom of living with strangers to make the rent...I currently live in Raleigh, NC and am afraid that I'll wake up dead one day because life here is slower than what I'd prefer...but I can't live in San Diego because of the high cost of living...I would love to return to San Diego to live but my idea of utopia does not include living in overpriced apartments, condos, homelessness or shelters just to say I live

I have only been here a short time but I came here from Pennsylvania thinking I would be able to be on the beach during the winter months. It is a little chilly to be out on the beach in a bathing suit. However, it is always sunny here and that is a

Do people that move here and complain not realize - 12/17/2007
I've been reading these negative posts about San Diego and I can't believe how stupid people are.
People complaining about the gorgeous year round weather b/c it doesn't change enough and there is no varety. What exactly were you expecting in a city known for yearound sunshine and 70 degree weather? If you love the snow and mountains would you move to Florida then complain too? Most people like this weather b/c it is so mild and comfortable all the time. If you like seasons and extreme weather then what the hell would prompt you to come to San Diego?
Then you get all these pretentious, pseudo intellectual snobs complaining about how SD lacks the culture found in NYC, SF, LA, Boston, ect... About how people here are not as sophisticated as other cities, ect... WHY WOULD YOU EVEN COMPARE SAN DIEGO TO A CITY LIKE NYC, LA, Boston, SF? Compare some apples to oranges while you are at it. Compare San Diego to cities more in line with it's population and

best weather in the country! - 12/17/2007
San Diego has one of the best climates in the nation. It is always a comfortable temperature near the coast and never too hot or cold. Doesn't rain often, low humidity, and plentiful sunshine. If you are expecting 4 seasons and changing weather then you obviously looked into the wrong place to move, that's like people moving to FL and expecting

So much potential in SD squandered..... - 11/27/2007
orSan Diego's is gifted with such a beautiful warm climate, ocean, mountains, desert...but has done little with it. I wish the city was more like Seattle, Portland, SF, Boston or NYC...BUT in this climate & geography!
pro's:
-climate
-easy access to mountains, beach, desert
-I actually think the cost of living is OK compared to LA, SF, NYC, DC and Boston
-easy to get around (again don't think the traffic is bad compared to th above cities)
con's:
-SD has this huge population of young, stupid, annoying meatheads that inhabit Mission Beach, PB, OB and the gaslamp. They are not hip, artsy or inteteresting like the young people in SF, NYC, Seattle, Boston etc...they are just cliche, commercialized, annoying, beer guzzling, dopey frat boys and barbie doll fake breasted women
-The dopey surf culture nonsense gets old in the beach communites
-the inland neighborhoods have no character or quaint downtowns, they are
