San Diegans are not nice at all! - 11/3/2007
I have forced myself to stay here for about 10 years so I have given it more than a fair shot. Yes this place has low crime, nice weather, and the beach and all that good stuff but that's it and everyone here knows it. The people here stink! They give each other dirty looks constantly and are so rude and stuck up and conservative and think they are better than everyone on the planet. This place will suck your soul dry! The weather is not worth it! I moved here for the weather and have stayed for only that reason. I hate it here and if you are someone who's not a soul-sucking robot, you will hate it here too. The cost of living is of course through the roof. All in all, I don't like it here and most people that move here end up hating it just as much as I

San Diego going downhill - 10/30/2007
San Diego will probably always look good to the casual tourist. The weather is beautiful -- as are the beaches, Balboa Park, and the newly revitalized downtown. But look more closely, and you will find that many of the pretty neighborhoods you are passing through are full of litter and graffiti. Drivers are not just inconsiderate, they are insane. I've dragged more dead animals off the roads; but then, why not aim that SUV at the poor cat or dog crossing the road? Animals don't matter. Have to get there on time! You will notice that San Diegans do not look American -- because, basically, they are not. There are almost one million Mexicans (with probably a quarter of them here illegally), not to mention a slew of Third World immigrants from perhaps one hundred countries. Don't count on people being able to converse with you in anything other than pidgin English. The white American part of San Diego mainly consists of country folk (some call them rednecks) living in East County and --

Great Climate, But No Jobs - 10/26/2007
My husband and I moved to San Diego from Phoenix in June 2007. We moved for the climate and the proximity to the beach (Ocean Beach). We love walking on the beach every day and bike riding. However, I have been trying since May to get signed up as a substitute school teacher (I have a CA certificate)and finally succeeded, but there are no jobs!I haven't seen other jobs in logistics, my previous career, either.
It was disturbing to watch the recent terrible fires. Everyone helped each other, and the boys I met were excited to be

La Jolla is gorgeous but we want to move - 10/1/2007
We live in the village of La Jolla California which is a charming wealthy coastal community just north of San Diego proper. The sky is always blue, the weather nearly always pleasant, and the views of the coast are spectacular. The village itself is often compared to small European villages. So, what's not to like? Believe it or not, we're finding that 365 days a year in paradise can be a bit tedious. We miss the seasons. The cost of living (especially of housing) is very very high. The people are a bit "California" (and I'm a native), which is to say -- they don't call it la-la land for nothing. We're wondering about Connecticut (close enough to commute to the City) or maybe Westchester County. Anyone with suggestions, please let me

Almost Forget what Seasons Feel Like! - 9/19/2007
Although I miss the changes of seasons, I do NOT miss the cold extremes (you can drive a short distance to find them during the season), and am always enjoying the wonderfully temperate weather during the cold winters

Weather is all you get here - 9/17/2007
San Diego used to be affordable but after the 80's boom it became just more crowded and less affordable. It used to be Americas finest city but has become America's least affordable based on income and housing. Great place to visit but not to raise a

a very conservative place - 9/15/2007
While there are many people here that have a Southern Californian indifference to politics (the weather, happy hour and the beach are paramount to these folks), be aware that the area in general is extremely conservative. Some downtown neighborhoods and beach areas, such as Hillcrest and Pacific Beach, are not, but the Golden Triangle, North County, and East County are very much so. East County bears a resemblence to the deep South in terms of religious, political, and sometimes racial

Americas Finest City??????? - 9/7/2007
It's not so great living in a "border" city.
There are way to many people here now and its difficult to do anything without being in a crowd. You have to time all of your public outings to avoid the masses.
Sure we have great weather compared to other cities, but it is extremely hot in the summer months. If you don’t live near the ocean and get the ocean breeze, its at least 10 degrees hotter than the posted temperature taken at the airport.
Cost of living is very high, and many live at poverty
